About Golden Retriever
The Golden Retriever was developed in Scotland in the mid-19th century by Lord Tweedmouth, who wanted to create an ideal hunting dog. The name "Golden" refers to the breed's distinctive golden-yellow coat color, and "Retriever" indicates its primary function of retrieving game. Lord Tweedmouth crossed a yellow-colored Flat-Coated Retriever with the now-extinct Tweed Water Spaniel, and later added Irish Setter, Bloodhound, and other breeds to develop the modern Golden Retriever.
