About Cocker Spaniel (English):
The English Cocker Spaniel comes from probably one of the largest group of dog. The first thing that you will notice about these adorable breed is their continuous wagging tail. They are known for that, they have been labeled by many as merry breeds. The English Cocker Spaniel is one of the most energetic and lively dogs in the genre.

In earlier times, the Cocker and Springer Spaniels were developed together and it was not till 1892 that the Kennel Club of England recognized them as separate breeds. After this there was no difference in the English and the American Cocker Spaniel.

It was in 1946 the interbreeding of English and American Cocker Spaniel was officially discouraged and the English and American Cocker Spaniel were rendered as separate breeds. The English cocker is more popular breed around the world. The origin of this breed can be traced to 14thcentury Spain though.

The English Cocker Spaniel is always eager to please their owners or pet parents. This pleasing nature makes them fun. Your English Cocker Spaniel puppy or an adult dog will be a perfect working dog. This breed is extremely trainable so will do what you want it do. They are not afraid of hard work and fare well in outdoor activities.

The other unique aspect of this dog is that it will let you know when someone reaches your home but are poor guard dogs. Their merry nature will see them wagging tails towards a burglar as well.If you have a puppy then we suggest that you get him to socialize at an early stage as this will ensure that he or she becomes the perfect adult dog.

The English Cocker Spaniel is an intelligent dog, which is affectionate and gentle with all children.. They are extremely friendly .These pets have a high energy requirement.These adorable lustrous hair dogs though intelligent do not respond well to hard training. These are merry dogs. They are very good watchdogs as they inform the owner of anyone coming into the house but are the worst guard dogs as they become friendly with even a burglar. They are very loyal to the family and can be even protective for it at times.

Training & Intelligence
Training your Cocker Spaniel is not very difficult just like the other members of the group. This breed is full of life and loves to please its owner. Thus, making it easy for the owners to train him or her, this breed is a hunter at heart. The breed in general is very intelligent and can learn various new tricks easily. You can start training your puppy but if your dog has grown then also he can be trained.
