Temperament
German Shepherd is amazingly loyal dogs. They are courageous, lovable and act as perfect guard dogs. They are highly intelligent and love to be engaged in various physical activities that require them to use their heightened intelligence. This makes them perfect working dogs for police and armed forces.
These dogs are highly loyal and very protective, so you may have to put up a sign like “beware of dogs” to alarm strangers. They are average barkers can this habit can be managed with proper training. They require a lot of exercise. They are very good with children and you can bet that they will keep your children safe. They are perfect jogging partners!
Training & Intelligence
They can be trained easily but proper dedication is required. They are highly intelligent, which is one of the main reasons why they are so popular with police and armed forces. They have the ability to outsmart humans as well. There basic training should include easy commands such as ‘sit’, ‘down’, ‘come’ and ‘stay’. For working dogs training, they can be taught to identify objects by sniffing. They an exceptional sense of smell and this ability makes them highly observant of scents.

Procreation
They attain sexual maturity when they reach the age ranging between between 6 – 9 months. They can start breeding once they are above 2 years of age. A GSD takes around one and a half year to reach its maximum size and structure. Consult your vet for procreation purposes.
